Winter Plan Update, 8/26

Hello Pass Holders and Friends,

Labor Day is fast approaching and we wanted to give you an update on various fronts. This will be our 27th season of ownership and while this ski season will look a little different than in years past, we have continued to focus on maintenance CapX and improvements, both Covid and non-Covid related. Some examples:

– The Summit Triple gearbox has been completely overhauled and has been reinstalled. Over budget, of course 🙂
– Purchase of additional Axess RFID gates and RFID card pick up boxes, for day ticket guests
– Purchased Ski School reservation software & expansion of Ski Wee building
– Purchase of a mobile food station and installation of separate deck
– PPE for our employees and guests
– additional improvements are planned, but we are not ready to share at this time

We are expecting that there will likely be limits on our inside lodge capacity, but we have created several new outdoor seating options, including covered spaces with heating to create more capacity. We continue to review ongoing policies with NSAA and Ski Maine.

In regards to the upcoming season, Shawnee Peak has always tried for a mid-December opening, some years earlier some later, all weather-related of course – and a closing in the end of March, if not later, again, weather/conditions permitting! We are planning the same for the 2020/2021 season. We remain hopeful that the Covid concerns will lessen.

For the upcoming season, if there are a material number of days closed due to Covid, at the end of the season, we will tally those as a percent of total days opened and issue a credit towards your 2021/2022 pass, based on your purchase price. Shawnee Peak is a family-owned ski area and our relationship with you all is paramount, so we believe this is an honest and fair policy for a small business such as ours.

Our success is based on your loyalty, friendship and introduction of friends. We hope we can continue to count on your support. We maintain our promise to reinvest in the Mountain as we have done in good years, as well as the not so good years.

We have extended our Summer Season Pass and Seasonal Ski School rates to September 18. Additionally, we have added a seasonal ski / snowboard lease program– please act quickly as inventory is limited.
