Shawnee Peak Makes Transformational Investment in Snowmaking & Grooming

Bridgton, Maine | October 9, 2018

Shawnee Peak Ski Area has just completed one of its busiest off-seasons in recent years. Major emphasis was placed on continued improvement of the snow surface. This project represents the biggest investment in snowmaking in Shawnee Peak’s history.

Along with Torrent Engineering & Equipment, Royal Trail Works and JP Gallinari Electric, Shawnee Peak completely redesigned and rebuilt its two pump houses, with a focus on automation. This transformative project will provide for increased productivity, efficiency and pumping capacity. These enhancements will allow the mountain to open trails faster and refresh trails more frequently. We strive to ensure a continued strong snow surface!

Each off-season, the resort looks to improve the fleet of snow guns. This year’s additions include an HKD tower fan gun and a Demac Lenko mobile fan gun. These powerful guns will provide increased firepower for the large areas around both base areas and at mid-station. Additionally, the mountain performed some enhancements to the snowmaking pipe on-hill. Shawnee Peak has also purchased an additional Pisten Bully 400 snow groomer.

An expanded food & beverage offering will be rolled out this winter – with an on-snow beer garden at the Main Base area and a revamped menu at the East Lodge. We will release more details closer to Opening Day!

The Rental Shop has received a complete technological upgrade, with Wintersteiger Rental Software replacing the paper forms. This will allow for advance reservation of ski & snowboard equipment and reduced lines in the shop, due to the expected efficiency. Shawnee Peak has also added additional equipment from Elan & Burton to its fleet of skis & snowboards.
