Happy August & Updates!
With the first days of August here, I wanted to provide a little update of sorts.
First and foremost, to answer a frequent question. YES, Shawnee Peak has every expectation that we will be open for skiing & riding this winter!
We are planning for a fun season and are so excited to see all of you. With that said, this pandemic has required everyone to change their routines and Shawnee Peak will be no different. It is too early to make final predictions, but the top priority is and will be the health and safety of our employees and customers.
The team has been working hard to develop protocols and programs, including PPE policies, to keep both our employees and guests safe, while still providing superior customer service and a great snow surface! We are in constant dialogue with state & local authorities, Ski Maine and the National Ski Areas Association as well as our local partners.
In the next couple weeks, we plan to commence construction on two heated outdoor covered seating areas. We’re almost complete with the deck for our pizza station! There will be no lack of seating this year! As previously mentioned, we expanded our ski school building. We have also outfitted this space with additional technology to accommodate those that would like to work remotely or take classes in between runs. Duh, we won’t tell 🙂
We will be encouraging everyone to buy in advance. To simplify the process for the first-time visitors this year and for those repeat visitors – to go direct to lift! Our e-commerce site has undergone a rehaul and we’re adding a pick-up box for those that buy online for the first time. No need to visit the ticket booth, just bring your phone to the box, scan, grab your S-Card and hit the slopes! For those of you that already have S-Cards, feel free to reload them!
Across the board – menus, waivers, lessons, etc – we are transitioning to digital formats as much as possible.
On-hill, we feel pretty comfortable as skiing is by nature, an outdoor activity with plenty of social distancing. But we will be redoing our lift mazes and seating on our chairlifts may be limited to the same household or group.
Going forward, we will send out updates in a timely manner, with the caveat that everything is subject to change and modification as we navigate this environment.
Please keep an eye out around Labor Day for more info on our Fall Season Pass sale, which will include updated policies and products – including a Friday program for our seasonal ski school and a Seasonal Equipment Lease program!
Enjoy the balance of August!
