Pleasant Mountain Cabins
There’s nothing like waking up in your own wilderness accommodations – especially when you’re waking up on TOP of the mountain. With the Pleasant Mountain Yurt and Cabins, you own the mountain. We have constructed a fantastic yurt and cabin on top of Shawnee Peak, and we’ve opened them up to you. And whether it’s December or July, the Yurt and Cabin are available for your stay. Bottom line, all year round, our Yurt and Cabins are here to offer you a true mountaintop experience unlike any other.
Imagine your own private mountaintop get-a-way: you can hike to the summit, get settled in by the interior fireplace, cook some dinner and watch the stars either on the deck or by the outside firepit. One of the coolest things is experiencing the natural setting without the hassle of setting up a campsite.
The Northridge Yurt sleeps 4 in two bunk beds with hypoallergenic mattresses, Tuckerman's Cabin sleeps 6 in two bunk beds and a double futon. You are required to bring your own bedding and pillows. Basic kitchen amenities including pots, pans, utensils, dishes and cups are provided. Propane fireplaces keep you cozy warm, and there are two propane stoves if you’d like to cook up some mountaintop cuisine. Also, we have outdoor fire pits and comfy deck chairs to lounge on – particularly great if you’re on top of the mountain in the summertime. Potable water is provided. Lighting is natural during the day, battery powered lamps are provided for the evening hours, headlamps are highly recommended. Both campsites have a natural outhouse.
The Pleasant Mountain Cabins are a pack in, pack out experience. During the summer guests are required to hike in and out. During ski season, guests and their belongings ride the summit triple chair to the top and ski to the accommodation. At the end of your stay, you ski with your belongings down the mountain...so pack lightly.
The Yurt and Cabin are each $199/night, plus a 9% lodging tax and a $100 refundable securtiy deposit. Please note: the security deposit will be refunded once the property has been inspected and found to be in clean condition with no damages. We had perfect weather for our stay in the yurt - clear blue skies, light breezes, not too hot or cold. The hike out to the fire tower and back was and excellent hike (just jump on the trail that goes behind the yurt!) A big fat porcupine waddled across the “front yard” one evening, but of course he didn’t bother us. He was rooting around under the yurt the first night, grunting and snorting like a pig! We ate our fill of blueberries - and there still millions more to pick! Thank you for a great long weekend, we’ll see you again soon.

Thank you for a great anniversary surprise! It is beautiful up here. What views of all the mountains! We had a clear night to view a million stars (a shooting star for good luck) and an awesome crescent moon. We saw a bog doe on the way up - she was very interested in us and vice-versa. The hike up was a bit of work, but well worth it. Great job outfitting the yurt. We had a great adventure. We’ll be back for sure.
