5th Year in a Row - Free Skiing at Shawnee Peak for Families of Military Personnel Stationed Overseas!

In an effort to support the family members of brave servicemen and women stationed overseas, Shawnee Peak Ski Area in Bridgton, Maine, will offer, for the fifth year in a row, FREE 2008-09 Family Season Passes to the spouse and dependents of deployed soldiers. Further, when the deployed soldier returns home, he/she will also receive a complimentary season pass! In an effort to get new or lapsed skiers and riders on the slopes, families will also receive $19 first-time lessons and $19 rental equipment.
“During this time of international conflict, it’s important to recognize the sacrifices of each soldier’s entire family unit,” said Chet Homer, owner of Shawnee Peak. “While our men and women are defending liberty and democracy overseas, it’s important for the private sector to contribute to the well-being of those family members left at home. This is the best way we know to say ‘thank you’ to the members of the Armed Services.”
Spouses and dependents of soldiers in any of the Armed Forces, National Guard or Reserves are eligible for this great deal. In the event both parents are oversees, the guardians of the dependents are also included.
“The Family Assistance Center is thrilled with the generous donation of Family Season passes for any military family with a deployed soldier that Shawnee Peak has offered,” said Robin Walsh, Assistant Superviser at the Family Assistance Center. “This is the fourth year in a row that Shawnee Peak has stepped forward and donated complimentary skiing and discounted rentals and lessons to our families. It is encouraging to have partners like Shawnee Peak to help families cope with the absence of a loved one due to a deployment. The families of our military are truly grateful for this donation.”
