Skiing is fun for everyone, and we have a tremendous program for differently-abled skiers and snowshoers to experience the joy of the mountains. The Shawnee Peak Adaptive Program is a pre-registered multi-week group program for children and adults with disabilities; our groups consist of local schools and adult agencies. Many of our groups practice for the Special Olympics which are held annually at Sugarloaf.
Please be advised if you wish to enroll a group with us that you are required to bring a leader, staff and volunteers to the mountain every week. We are always on the lookout for additional volunteers! The program is in operation every weekday morning starting in early January for 7 weeks into March.
We have 17 groups enrolled for the 2012-2013 season which bring us to a full schedule. Many of these groups have been training with us for a number of years. They include but are not limited to: Westbrook MS, Windham MS, Windham HS, Windham HS Autism, Cafe, Landmark, Good Neighbors, Progress Center, Sacopee Valley, Momentum, LRHS, Elm Street School, Poland Regional High School, Poland Community School, Molly Ockett, New Suncook, Fryeburg Academy.
Two great gentlemen run the program, Ross Graham, and Charlie Scribner.
