The 80's
The 1980's was a decade with many changes at Shawnee Peak.
- 1980 – Shawnee Peak did not open, due to lack of natural snow
- 1981 – Snowmaking is installed
- 1982 – Current general manager, Ed Rock, arrives from Okemo Mountain in Vermont.
- 1983 – Pre-dawn fire destroys the Main Base Lodge
- 1984 – New ownership with Peter Dromeshauser and David Lubrano. Dismantle "Old Blue" lift and install Summit Triple Chair (still in operation).
- 1988 – Shawnee Group Companies purchases Pleasant Mountain and changes name to Shawnee Peak. Lights are installed on (then) 70% of the mountain.
