The 70's

The mid-seventies brought the retirement of Russ Haggett, they hayday of the freestyle movement and the beginning of the Swiss Ski School rage in the industry.
- 1972 - The largest one-year expansion, the East Area, is built with the installation of the East Chairlift & East Lodge
- 1969-1974 - Ruedi Wyrsch is ski school director, bringing freestyle and "ballet skiing" to Maine.
- Bruce Cole starts a freestyle program, which begins the careers of notables like: Greg Stump (2004 Inductee to the Maine Ski Hall of Fame), Geoff Stump, Peter Young (current Shawnee Peak instructor), Doug Rand and LeeLee Morrison (1988 Olympic Mogul Team Member).
